En la localidad de Juan E. O’Leary, del Departamento de Alto Paraná, se encuentra en funcionamiento una Arenera al margen del Río Monday, fue intervenida por técnicos de la Dirección de Fiscalización Integrada (DFAI), del Ministerio del Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible (MADES), por la supuesta infracción a Ley 294/93 de Evaluación de Impacto Ambiental.
Una vez en el lugar, los funcionarios procedieron a las verificaciones correspondientes, a fin de constatar si la firma arenera se encuentra con las documentaciones y las normas ambientales necesarias para su explotación. El recorrido se realizó en compañía del encargado, quien confirmó que la empresa no cuenta con la Licencia Ambiental expedida por el MADES.
Cabe destacar que la empresa cuenta con un barco de extracción de arena del cauce, con una capacidad de 22 m3, la cual en el momento de la verificación se encontraba operando al borde de la barranca. También cuentan con una zona para la descarga de arena con aproximadamente 50×30 metros de superficie.
Al no contar con las documentaciones ambientales necesarias para realizar los trabajos, se procede a la entrega de la copia del Acta de Intervención, así como la Cédula de Notificación, a fin de que los responsables se presenten ante el Ministerio del Ambiente.
